General Questions

Q. Can I really rent online and get instant access?
A. Yes! As soon as you check-out on our website, you will be provided a gate code for instant access!

Q. Does my storage unit come with a lock?
A. Yes! You will be provided with the location of your free lock when you get your gate code. You are welcome to use your own lock as well!

Q. Can I rent a unit for a single month?
A. Yes! Your rental agreement is month-to-month, so you can rent for as little or as long as you need!

Q. Is there a deposit?
A. We currently do not require a deposit.

Q. Can I rent over the phone?
A. Yes! Just call us and a member of our team will help you. If for some reason we aren't able to connect immediately, we will call you right back. Our office's phone hours are Mon-Sun, 9:00AM - 5:00PM Central Standard Time. You still have storage unit access 24/7.

Q. Can I really access my storage unit at ANY time?
A. Yes! You have 24/7, 365-day access to your stored items.

Q. Are my valuables insured? // Am I required to purchase insurance?
A. Like other similar facilities, we do not insure your items. We do not require you to insure the items but strongly recommend that you obtain insurance for any valuable items to be stored. There is no way for us to even know what exactly you are storing therefore we can not insure any items.

Q. How can I pay for my storage unit?
A. You can pay via ACH draft or any major credit/debit card. Payments are made by phone or online. We do require customers to sign up for recurring billing at no extra cost.

Q. Is there a minimum term or length time that I must rent the unit?
A. No, our units are all month to month rentals. We simply ask that you let us know by the 20th of the month that you no longer need the unit. (in other words at least 10 days notice).

Q. What should I do when I wish to give notice that I no longer need the unit?
A. You can either call or email us at info@840storage.com that you no longer need the unit and provide us with the date that you plan to have all of your items removed. A member of our team will schedule your move out and verify that the unit is empty. Simply remove all of your items and any debris, and leave the unit unlocked. You can leave the lock inside the unit or take it with you. After the unit move out is finalized in our system (can take 1-3 days) , you will receive a notice via email thanking you for your business and stating that you have a zero balance.

Q. Who else has access to my self storage unit?
A. Only you can decide who else has access to your self storage unit. We will never give access to someone who is not on the rental agreement. Feel free to give out your access codes to those you trust. We will not grant access to anyone else without your permission.

Q. What size unit is best for me?
A. The smallest unit, the 5x10, can fit a mid-sized bedroom, a queen-sized bed, a dresser, a TV and several small to medium-sized boxes.
The next-to-smallest unit, the 10x10, can fit the contents of an entire family room or two full bedrooms, including several small to medium-sized boxes.
The medium sized unit, the 10x15, fits the contents of three full bedrooms and larger items such as a piano, couches, tables, or large-screen TVs, plus several medium to large-sized boxes.
The next-to-largest unit, the 10x20, fits the contents of a multi-bedroom house, including several oversized items like a couch, a refrigerator, a washer/dryer and a dining room set or several large boxes.
The largest storage unit, the 10x30, fits the contents of a multi-bedroom house, including several oversized items like a couch, a refrigerator, a washer/dryer and a dining room set or several large boxes.

Q. Will my stuff be safe?
A. Our state-of-the-art facility is fully fenced and gated, under 24-hour video surveillance, and we have an onsite resident to help keep an eye on things.

Q. What about bugs other outdoor critters that may try to get inside my unit?
A. We take measures to repel pests and prevent pests from gaining access to the buildings. However this is a team effort, we recommend that you also take steps to protect your items and repel any unwanted pests. Once you have rented the unit, we will not have access inside to help you do this. We encourage you to 1) check your units monthly if possible, 2) wrap or box up valuable pieces for protection, and 3) use pesticides and other repellants just like you would your own house.

Q. Do you have boxes?
A. We do NOT currently have boxes for sale at the facility, yet!

Q. Do you hold storage auctions? 
A. Yes, if units remain delinquent we do auction the contents.

Q. What types of items should I avoid storing?
A. Please do not store any type of food including pet/animal food, kitchen spices, or herbs any kind. Any food items could attract pests.

Q. Do you offer vehicle or RV storage?
A. We currently offer uncovered parking spaces within our gated facility for vehicles and trailers from 20ft and up to 40ft. We do plan to offer covered/enclosed parking in the near future.

Q. Can I store a small vehicle inside of my self storage unit?
A. The self storage units are not ideal for storing vehicles due to the opening being too small for most vehicles, trailers, and boats.

Rental Agreement Questions

Q. When is my Payment Due?
A. Everyone's due date is different. Your due date is the same day of the month you moved in. So if you moved in on the 15th of the month, your next bill will be due on the 15th of the following month.

Q. I Can't Find the Key to my Unit - What Can I do?
A. One of our storage consultants can cut the lock for you. We reasons we hope you can understand, we do not allow bolt cutters on the property. Please keep in mind, if you do try to cut your own luck, you may damage the slide-bolt and door, both of which you will be liable for.
